About World Science Festival Brisbane

Get ready to celebrate a milestone in 2025 — World Science Festival Brisbane (WSFB) is turning 10. This year’s theme, Infinite Awe, will take your sense of wonder to the next level.

Over the past decade, WSFB has celebrated science and creativity with audiences across the state. From mind-blowing discussions to interactive experiences, the festival has made science accessible, exciting and fun for more than 1.8 million people. Whether you’re a lifelong science enthusiast or are just starting to explore, WSFB has plenty to spark your curiosity.

The festival was founded in 2008 by the renowned physicist Professor Brian Greene and Emmy award-winning journalist Tracy Day in New York, with the mission to ignite public curiosity about science and its role in shaping our future. A production of the World Science Foundation, a not-for-profit based in New York, the festival has inspired millions globally. Since its launch in Brisbane in 2016, WSFB has brought some of the world’s greatest minds to Queensland, deepening the public’s connection to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and changing how people engage with science.

To mark our 10th anniversary, WSFB 2025 will feature extraordinary speakers, scientists, and performances with over 90 events and 300 sessions, taking science to new heights and extending its reach beyond Brisbane’s city limits. Across the opening weekend, WSFB will feature a special program in Ipswich at Queensland Museum Rail Workshops, and other events in greater Brisbane.

Presented by Queensland Museum with the support of the Queensland Government and partners, WSFB continues to build Queensland Museum’s position as a leader in STEM education. This anniversary year invites you to discover a world of awe-inspiring science. Don’t miss out—come join us and be part of the journey.
