How do different disciplines engage with the Queensland Herbarium collection?
Herbarium Collections are used in many different ways by practitioners of many different disciplines. In this panel discussion we will hear from a Botanist, a Philosopher and two artists to hear how they access, utilize and enhance our understanding of the Queensland Herbarium collection, particularly with respect to a changing climate.
Climate change poses a threat to all life forms, and the panel will discuss how herbarium collections can be used to examine the notion of interconnected well-being between plants and humans; exploring this complex relationship through cross disciplinary dialogue and artistic outcomes.

More Information
Queensland’s biodiversity and environmental change since 1770 is preserved on the shelves of the Queensland Herbarium in the form of preserved plant, algae and fungi specimens. Each specimen captures a snapshot of landscape and environmental conditions at the time of collection. Despite their age, the function and form, minute details and genetic composition of these plant specimens remain ready to tell their story.
