Ponyo

A goldfish princess ventures to the forbidden surface world where she befriends a local boy, Sōsuke, who dubs her Ponyo. After her journey inadvertently unleashes chaos in her magical underwater kingdom and the land of humans above, Ponyo and Sōsuke must set out to restore order in both worlds.

Inspired by ‘The Little Mermaid’, Hayao Miyazaki’s majestically coloured fantasy is a delightful animated adventure that carries an important environmental message. Miyazaki renders Ponyo’s aquatic world in the signature Studio Ghibli aesthetic, drenching the screen with flowing, creature-like water that moves and breathes unlike anything else in animated cinema.
