Erik Streed

For the past 19 years Erik has been an experimental quantum physicist at Griffith University. Best known for being the first to image a single atom’s shadow using techniques adapted from lighthouse optics, his research ranges from fundamental questions about our universe to adapting techniques from quantum physics to address real world problems. He also teaches first year physics and engineering at the Gold Coast. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota he is a graduate of Caltech (BSc) with a senior project at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and MIT where he did his PhD with supervisor Nobel Laureate Wolfgang Ketterle.
