Associate Professor Shah is a researcher at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, The University of Queensland. Her research uses genetic and health data to improve our understanding of heart disease, with a focus on under-represented groups, including women. She leads the South Asian Genes and Health in Australia study. She has been recognised for her contributions through numerous awards, including the 2022 Queensland Young Tall Poppy Award, the prestigious 2024 Australian Academy of Science Gani Medal for outstanding contribution to human genetics research, and being named among Australia’s top 25 Women in Science by Newscorp in 2023.
