Go behind-the-scenes at The Health and Food Sciences Precinct at the Queensland Government, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for a specially curated experience. Attendees will have the opportunity to view the Pilot Plant and processing rooms, Product Development laboratory, Consumer and Sensory Science kitchen and booths, Food Chemistry and Microbiology laboratories.
The Health and Food Sciences Precinct brings together Queensland’s top scientists and state-of-the-art facilities. Queenslanders and industry benefit from having scientists in one central location to foster ideas, collaborate and conduct research in food. Their work assists the Queensland food industry to develop and commercialise new products, strengthening the state’s agricultural and food industries.
Visitors will gain a unique insight into the vast and diverse research conducted by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
Labs Unlocked is presented with support from Advance Queensland.
Lab location: Health and Food Sciences Precinct, Blocks 10-12, 39 Kessels Road, Coopers Plains Queensland 4108
There will be a 20 minute presentation, followed by a 10 minute Q&A session with representatives from Food Zone at the Health and Food Sciences Precinct.. This will be followed by a 1 hour tour of the facility and morning tea. This tour is open to people over the age of 16, accompanied children between 12 and 16 and will not be suitable for younger children. Attendees will be required to wear laboratory coats and hair nets for the duration of the tour (provided). Attendees will be required to wear their own closed in, flat shoes on site. Attendees will be required to sign in with security.
There is limited parking on-site. Visitors will be required to park in designated parking spaces and report to security to sign in.
Public transport is also available close to the facility.
