Summary
Seqwater is responsible for delivering safe, sustainable and valued water supply for more than three million people across South East Queensland. As one of the largest and most geographically spread water businesses in Australia, Seqwater manages infrastructure including the SEQ Water Grid, dams and weirs, water treatment plants, reservoirs, pump stations and a desalination plant.
Visitors will enjoy a curated tour at the Mt Crosby Water Treatment Plant (West Bank) and meet some of our dedicated scientists and laboratory staff. Visitors will get up close to hydrometric and water quality tools, get a behind the scenes look at water testing processes and gain insight on some of Seqwater’s recent research and innovation projects.
About the Facility:
The Mt Crosby West Bank Water Treatment Plant turns raw water into safe, drinkable water for the Brisbane and Ipswich area. Two water treatment plants are located at Mt Crosby – East Bank and West Bank. Combined, the plants can produce over 750 megalitres of drinking water per day. The site consists of the West Bank Water Treatment Plant and a process laboratory hub for field staff who measure both the quality and quantity of water.

The tour will run for 60 minutes and starts with an operational site safety briefing. Visitors will then meet some of our laboratory and field staff and learn about the instruments used on a daily basis, in addition to the research and innovative trials underway to ensure safe and reliable drinking water. The tour will be followed by a Q&A session.
This tour is open to children 12 years and over and will not be suitable for younger children. All children between 12-18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
As this is an operational site, visitors must wear closed-in shoes, full length trousers, long sleeved tops, and broad brim hat.
The tour may be cancelled at any time due to operations needs or an unforeseen event. Registered visitors will be notified.
Accessibility
This is an operational site with operating plant vehicles, chemical use and operational noise. Participants must be accompanied by an Seqwater tour guide at all times and not enter restricted areas. The site has limited wheelchair access.
