Lucy Shinners

Dr. Lucy Shinners is an Aboriginal woman working as a Nursing Research Fellow at the University of Queensland with the Infection Prevention and Vascular Access Team. Lucy is an experienced ICU nurse of 20+ years and is uniquely positioned to observe the growing use of technology impacting the healthcare setting. Her PhD developed a pioneering tool which measures healthcare professionals’ perceptions of AI, now used in over 15 countries. She is particularly interested in the development and application of AI in healthcare, the social dimensions of implementation, and its relevance in Australian Indigenous Communities.
