Being Human has its challenges. Maintaining our physical and mental health, personal fitness levels and emotional wellbeing require constant monitoring and maintenance of our bodies and brains, minds and souls. Biology, medicine, physiology, anatomy, neurology and many more strands of science contribute to our knowledge and understanding of our very being – our health and our humanity.
World Science Festival Brisbane may not have all the answers, but we do have the experts ready to share with us what they do and don’t know about being human – and what it takes to live a healthy and happy life.
In a series of topical conversations, our medical experts will explore how gut health can have profound impacts on your overall wellbeing. They’ll ask the burning questions about the latest developments in health and medicine. And they’ll dissect the brain and unravel the mysteries of Love and other heart conditions.
Harvard Medical School genetics researcher Professor David Sinclair makes a highly anticipated appearance to answer the question of why we age—and why we don’t have to. And two panels of healthy and passionate debaters will battle it out for the title of Science Smackdown Champion as The Ultimate Debate tackles human issues with humour, flair, and a fair share of friendly rivalry.
Whether you’re an aspiring health and wellbeing expert, doctor or biologist – or you just want to find out how to be human and healthy – this selection of events aims to challenge your thinking, inform your decisions and set you on a path to being the best human possible.
World Science Festival Brisbane is the only one of its kind outside of New York and will continue its tour across Queensland in 2025, stopping in Toowoomba, Chinchilla, Gladstone and Ipswich. Showcasing science from the supermassive to minuscule, World Science Festival Queensland will engage visitors through activities, shows and stalls featuring the best of the region’s science and technology and some visiting spectacular cross-discipline science treats.
