Queensland Museum: The Snail Whisperer

Make some slimy new friends, with the Snail Whisperer!

Queensland Museum land snail researchers, Drs John and Lorelle Stanisic present the fascinating world of snails.

Known as “The Snail Whisperer”, Dr John Stanisic OAM is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Queensland Museum and a Research Associate of the Australian Museum, Sydney. He is Australia’s foremost expert on land snails having held the position of Curator of Molluscs at the museum for 26 years. John has published numerous scientific and popular articles on the systematics, distribution and biogeography of land snails, in particular their association with rainforest and limestone.

Dr Lorelle Stanisic is an Honorary Researcher at the Queensland Museum and was most recently credited naming the new-to-science species, “Robert Irwin’s Banded Snail” (Figuladra robertirwini).

This activity is part of World Science Festival Queensland’s free community day in Gladstone.
