QUT brings an immersive experience in Antarctic research that connects you with the extreme conditions of the southernmost continent. Using real Antarctic footage, this digital creation showcases the advanced robotics technologies vital to ongoing research. You can explore how diverse robotic systems, from underwater gliders to autonomous vehicles, drones and ground robots, tackle unique Antarctic challenges.
These machines are engineered for tasks such as whale tagging, seabird nest monitoring, ice sheet surveying, and servicing remote camps. Spanning two storeys with 26 multi-touch screens, The Cube not only visualises the Antarctic landscape but also highlights how robotics is transforming scientific exploration safely, efficiently, and sustainably.
This experience sparks curiosity and invites you to engage with real-world STEM applications, underscoring the importance of robotics in understanding our planet’s most remote and fragile ecosystems.
