Alex Hewitt

Alex Hewitt is a Principal Research Fellow at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research and the School of Medicine at the University of Tasmania, as well as a Principal Investigator at the Centre for Eye Research Australia. He is supported by an NHMRC Practitioner Fellowship and his major research interest is understanding the molecular mechanisms of blinding diseases. Specifically, Alex has been involved with the identification of genes and risk variants associated with primary open-angle glaucoma and macular degeneration.
