Emerald Gaydon is a physics researcher and Rhodes Scholar, set to commence her PhD at the University of Oxford. In her research in neuromorphic computing, she is using light (rather than electricity!) to design a new type of energy-efficient computer inspired by the human brain. Outside of the lab, Emerald loves sharing science! She is the former Administrator of the University of Queensland’s Science Demo Troupe, works nationally and internationally as a science presenter and MC (recently in the UK and Saudi Arabia) and runs science outreach activities in regional and remote Australian communities.
