Ignacio completed his undergraduate studies in Natural Sciences at the Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia in Trelew (Argentina). In 2004 he continued with grad school at the Universidad Nacional del Comahue, where he got his PhD with a dissertation about Jurassic Floras from Patagonia. Later he did a postdoc at Kansas University, where he studied the Triassic floras of Antarctica; and at Ohio University, focused on the evolutionary study of gymnosperms. He currently works as a CONICET Researcher at the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (MEF), in Trelew, where he is the Curator in charge of the Paleobotanical Collection.
Since the beginning of his career, he has dedicated part of his time to scientific outreach, having developed different programs at the MEF, educational play stands at different science fairs, scientific scripts, exhibition scripts and books.
