Prof. Karen Hussey is the newly appointed full-time chair of the Emissions Reduction Assurance Committee, an independent statutory committee with responsibility for ensuring the integrity of the ‘methods’ in Australia’s legislated carbon crediting scheme. Before taking on the ERAC role, Karen was Deputy Director General in the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Science, where she led the development and coordination of policy, strategy and legislation relating to the environment, conservation, climate change, and heritage. Trained as a political scientist and economist, Karen was an academic for the first 15 years of her career, first at the Australian National University and later at the University of Queensland.
