Kirsten MacDonell is the Research and Payloads Group Lead at the Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration of the European Space Agency. In this role, she leads a team of expert scientists and engineers who define and develop the scientific experiments and technology demonstrations conducted across various platforms, including ground analogue studies, parabolic flights, the International Space Station, the Deep Space Gateway, the Moon, and Mars. With a focus on studying the effects of microgravity, radiation, isolation, and confinement, the ultimate goal is to enable human exploration and habitation beyond Earth.
