Marcello Costa has a personal chair at Flinders University where he is a Matthew Flinders Distinguished Professor and Professor of Neurophysiology. He was one of the founders of Neuroscience in Australia and has been involved in research on the nervous system since his medical studies in Turin (Italy).
He has been elected to the Australian Academy of Science and made member of the Bragg initiative of the Royal Institution of Australia. Marcello is actively involved in public education on the relevance of Brain Sciences in every aspect of human life. He has written magazine articles with a neuroscience perspective, on science and art, ethics and belief systems, adventure and exploration, creativity, painting, music, sense of self and is engaged in public activities on many of these issues. As one of the founders of Friends of Science in Medicine, Marcello is actively involved in promoting good science in Medicine against pseudosciences.
