Professor

Paul Young

Paul Young is a Professor of Virology at The University of Queensland. His interest in science began at the age of 12 when he set up a chemistry lab under his parent’s house…don’t ask! He embarked on a more traditional route through science at UQ and then went to the UK for his PhD at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He joined UQ in 1991 where he has been ever since. His research is all about understanding the way viruses cause disease and developing ways to control them with vaccines and drugs. He is passionate about science communication and photography.
