Phoebe Paradise is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist, musician and designer based in Brisbane. She produces illustrations, textiles, murals and public art installations.
Phoebe’s graphic lexicon developed early via a prolific output of flyers and merch designs for bands and venues around Australia. From 2017-2019, she operated her debut storefront ‘Paradise’ in the teeming heart of Brisbane’s notorious nightclub district Fortitude Valley.
Since then, Phoebe has gone on to produce a large body of iconic illustrations and public art commissions that have become synonymous with Brisbane’s humid streets, murky river waters, and ascendant cultural reach.
Her viral illustration of a stilted Queenslander home became a reluctant symbol of the city’s volatile relationship with climate during the 2021 floods, while her popular faux-tourism-print ‘SUNSHINE CITY’ seemingly adorns every fridge, toilet door and sharehouse mantlepiece in Australia. Most recently, her contribution to the Museum of Brisbane’s Botanica was nationally documented – from local TV news and radio, all the way to the floor of Parliament House.
