Dr Ponce-Reyes is a conservation scientist working at Australia’s national science agency CSIRO. Originally from Mexico City, she came to Australia to pursue a PhD in Conservation Science at UQ. After completing her studies, she joined the CSIRO, where she has participated in many projects related to biodiversity conservation. These include projects to make our limited conservation funds more effective through development of decision-support tools.
More recently, Dr Ponce-Reyes has explored the environmental, health and cultural benefits of edible insects as a complementary source of protein for human diets. She co-authored the CSIRO Edible Insect roadmap report in April 2021.
