Samantha Shellard is Works on Paper, Conservator at Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art. A role that combines both art and science to restore and conserve artworks for future generations.
Samantha undertook a trifecta of study involving Cultural Conservation in paper conservation, Organic Chemistry and Fine Arts. She has forged a dynamic and rewarding career caring for priceless artworks.
Career highlights include courier trips and her collaboration with skilled artisans, in order to develop equipment to assist the installation of artworks. She has published and presented numerous articles on artists techniques and innovative treatments both at national and international symposiums within paper conservation.
Today Samantha believes in life-long learning; where she mentors emerging conservators and provides feedback to final year students for their master’s research projects.
