Sandra Tuszynska is a mycologist (a fungi scientist) and a soil microbiologist with a special interest in fungi and their wondrous mycelium. During her PhD research, Sandra studied the cellular mechanisms of root symbiotic fungi and their ability to detoxify heavy metals to protect trees. This allowed her to understand the superpowers of fungi as nature’s nurturers, regenerators, protectors and innovators.
As a passionate science communicator, public speaker and educator, Sandra hopes to inspire others to work with the magic of fungi. Her most recent project is the Soil Restoration Course, sharing research and providing practical tools on how to restore soils with fungi and other microbes.
