Todd Bond is the Deputy Director of the Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research Centre at The University of Western Australia and a deep-sea ecologist with a soft spot for fish.
Todd grew up in Western Australia surrounded by boats and diverse marine environments, and knew from an early age he would be a scientist. Now, Todd explores the deepest locations on Earth – the hadal zone. His work has taken him across abyssal plains, into deep-sea canyons, and diving down 7300 m into the Japan Trench.
Todd has a Bachelors degree in Marine Science and a PhD in fish ecology and fisheries from The University of Western. His presentations have been awarded in Scotland and Australia, and his research outcomes applied in US, UK, Australia, south-east Asia and the Pacific. Todd is a WA Science Ambassador and recipient of a Premier’s Science Award.
